The Arizona Cardinals were in need of a wide receiver on their roster, and they brought a familiar face back on Tuesday. After spending some time in free agency, Pharoh Cooper is signing with Arizona.

During the Cardinals Week 4 contest against the Seattle Seahawks, Christian Kirk suffered an ankle injury. With Kirk expected to miss some time, signing a wide receiver was a necessity for the Cardinals. Thus, bringing Cooper back was the best option for an Arizona team who is in desperate need of a win.

Last year, Cooper signed with the Cardinals after he spent 2016-2018 with the Los Angeles Rams as a kick returner. As a matter of fact, the former Rams kick returner made the Pro Bowl in 2017 with Los Angeles.

With the Cardinals in 2018, Cooper failed to log any stats as a wide receiver. But he did manage to return six kickoffs for the team for a total of 67 yards last year.

Over the course of training camp and the preseason, Cooper stuck with the Cardinals until he was released by the team as part of the roster cuts to trim their roster down to 53 players. Following his release from Arizona, the versatile wideout spent a short amount of time with the Cincinnati Bengals this season.

Signing Cooper is likely just for insurance as Kirk nurses his ankle injury in the coming weeks. Aside from Larry Fitzgerald, KeeSean Johnson, and Trent Sherfield will likely see an uptick in snaps over Cooper.

Additionally, we could see rookie Andy Isabella take on a larger role than he's been accustomed to in the first four games of the season.
