Casper Ruud takes on Alexander Zverev at the French Open. Our French Open odds series has our Ruud Zverev prediction and pick. Find out how to watch Ruud Zverev.

The 2024 French Open heads into the semifinals. The first match on Friday is the main event featuring Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner. Those two players have won major titles. The second semifinal on Friday involves two players who have not yet won a major. The winner here gets to play for a first major trophy on Sunday in Paris. It's a career-defining match for Ruud and Zverev, who have both played in major finals but have not been able to clear that final hurdle. Both players have been ranked as high as No. 2 in the world, but neither has been able to gain that elusive No. 1 ranking, something which often emerges as the product of a major title. The stakes are high, and two men are trying to secure what would be a career-transforming achievement in France.

Why Casper Ruud Could Cover The Spread

The spread of 1.5 games for this match means it is basically a toss-up, and that if you pick the match winner, you're picking the man who will also cover the spread. It is possible for Zverev to win and for Ruud to cover the +1.5-game spread, but that's certainly not likely. Ruud would have to blow out Zverev in a few sets, while Zverev would win a tiebreaker or two. It could conceivably happen, but it's not a probable outcome. Just bet on the man you think will win.

Having established that point, Ruud did not have to play his quarterfinal match due to Novak Djokovic withdrawing from the tournament. Zverev had to play his match against Alex De Minaur. Zverev played very long five-set matches in his third round (Tallon Griekspoor) and fourth round (Holger Rune) encounters. He has logged a lot of miles. Ruud is in great physical shape and will be happy to take this match into a fifth set. He loves those moments. Zverev would probably want to get this done in no more than four sets, due to the work he has put into previous rounds. Give Ruud the edge the longer this match goes. Since Zverev has a tendency to play long, multi-set matches, Ruud on the money line is not a bad play. If you think he will cover the 1.5-game spread, you might as well take him straight up and get the better price.

Why Alexander Zverev Could Cover The Spread

Zverev has been to a lot of major semifinals. Some of them were played against Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal. This is a much easier draw compared to Novak and Rafa. Zverev will take advantage.

Final Casper Ruud-Alexander Zverev Prediction & Pick

Just pick a winner. Don't think about total games or sets. Zverev has not played at a high level in this tournament. Ruud, who is one win away from a third straight French Open final, has earned the benefit of the doubt. Take Ruud straight up.
