Taylor Swift's ex has some thoughts about The Life of a Showgirl.
The 14-time Grammy winner released her 12th studio album on Oct. 3, which has debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, becoming her 15th chart-topping album, earning her the most chart-topping albums of any solo artist. “The Fate of Ophelia,” the album's lead single, also reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Additionally, all 12 songs occupied the Hot 100 uninterrupted, making it the first album to ever accomplish that feat.
In an interview published on Oct. 20 in Esquire, Joe Jonas, whom Swift dated briefly in 2008, commented on the singer's latest project.
“I've heard some of it,” Jonas told the outlet. “I think she's obviously the biggest artist out there, and I think it's good. Everybody's got an opinion about it, but from what I've heard, there are some catchy melodies.”
While Swift and Jonas were only dating for about three months in 2008, it is still one of her most infamous relationships. She spoke about it on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and how she mentioned their breakup in 2012.
“There's one that's about [Jonas], but that guy's not in my life anymore unfortunately,” she told DeGeneres. “When I find that person that is right for me, he'll be wonderful, and when I look at that person, I'm not even gonna be able to remember the boy who broke up with me over the phone in 25 seconds when I was 18.”
She referred to the callout to which Jonas received a lot of backlash when she returned to the show in 2019 sharing that her comment was “mouthy” yet they “laugh about it now.”

A lot of time has passed since Jonas and Swift were an item and they have gone their separate ways romantically. Jonas ended up marrying Sophie Turner in 2019 and they share two daughters: Willa and Delphine. However, they ended up getting divorced in 2024. Following his divorce, he had a brief romance with model Stormi Bree in early 2024 but that has since ended as well and he is reportedly single.
As for Swift, she began dating Travis Kelce in 2023 and they recently announced that they are engaged. The couple broke the news on August 26 on social media.
“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” the couple captioned the photos of Kelce proposing in a garden.
Swift shared that Kelce turned his backyard into a garden for the proposal while they were filming her episode of his New Heights podcast that he co-hosts with his brother, Jason Kelce.
“He went all out – 10 out of 10,” Swift told The Graham Norton Show.
