Sorry sports fans, Tom Brady won't ever do a roast again. The NFL icon said that after the backlash his family received when he was the star of Netflix's The Greatest Roast Of All Time: Tom Brady.
“I loved when the jokes were about me I thought they were so fun,” said Brady per People. “I didn't like the way that affected my kids. So it's the hardest part about, like, the bittersweet aspect of when you do something that you think is one way, and then all of a sudden you realize I wouldn't do that again because of the way that affected actually the people that I care about the most in the world.”
Brady is a father of three and shares kids Benjamin and Vivian with ex-wife Gisele Bündchen and son Jack with ex-girlfriend Bridget Moynahan.
“I wanted to do the roast because the guy Jeff Ross became someone that I knew, and then you just don't see the full picture all the time. So I think it's a good lesson for me as a parent. I'm going to be a better parent as I go forward because of it, and at the same time, I'm happy everyone who was there had a lot of fun,” he added.
Brady concluded his message that he and his teammates as well as other athletes “love laughing in the locker room.”
“Let's do more of that and love each other and come on man, celebrate other people's success. That, to me, gives everyone a lot of hope,” he said.
Gisele Bündchen Reacts To Netflix Roast Jokes
Bündchen did not hold back how she felt about her family being targeted during the Netflix roast. According to People, a source told the outlet that Bündchen is “deeply disappointed by the disrespectful portrayal of her family on Sunday evening's roast show.”
The source continues: “As always, [Bündchen's] priority is to support her children who were affected by the irresponsible content that was broadcasted.”
“This past week, Gisele has been tirelessly dedicated to aiding those in need in her home state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, which is grappling with the worst flooding in its history,” the source added. “She was concerned about family affected by the devastating floods, so to hear her life being joked about was very disappointing.”
After hearing that Bündchen was “offended” by some of the jokes said at the roast, a source told Us Weekly that Brady apologized.
“She thinks her new relationship should have been off-limits. Tom did reach out to Gisele to apologize to her,” the source says. “They are cordial and only communicate about the kids.”
The source adds that Bündchen, “is aware that it comes with the territory of a roast but didn’t think there were going to be that many remarks made about her and especially her new relationship”
Another source chimed in adding that“just like with any roast, neither Tom nor any of the participants knew what was going to be said about them” ahead of time. “But as with any roast, they target public parts of your life,” the source continued. “Their kids were always off limits. Everything was all in good fun.”
