For many NBA players, playing on the road is something they aren't quite fond of as it means traveling, and playing in front of a lot of fans cheering against them. However, for Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart, he likes playing against the Oklahoma City Thunder and enjoys the atmosphere inside their home court, Chesapeake Energy Arena.

Having played for Oklahoma State back in college, he admitted he is more comfortable playing there than in other arenas, via Marc D’Amico of Celtics.com.

“I do feel comfortable (here), probably more than any other arena,” Smart said. “I feel comfortable in every arena, but this one in particular.”

Even Smart’s teammates are aware that he plays well in Oklahoma City, as well as in Texas, where his hometown of Flower Mound is. He revealed that they make some jokes about having him take extra shots, as they know he will most likely deliver.

“Everybody kind of jokes around with it, ‘We’re going back to Oklahoma, we’re going back to Dallas, it’s time to get Marcus the ball.”

The 23-year-old proved just that on Friday night when the Celtics visited the Thunder for the first time this season. Even if he did not produce stellar numbers, finishing with only nine points, four rebounds, and five assists, he gave his team a lot of energy and hustle throughout the game. He also played excellent defense on Russell Westbrook in a few stretches, forcing him to miss some shots.

It remains to be seen if he can continue his strong performances in the future whenever he plays inside their arena, but with his friends from his stint there before possibly watching him, it gives him more reason to play well. It could also challenge the Thunder to play better defense against him, as they know he is at ease on their home floor.
