Chael Sonnen recently gave his take on Jorge Masvidal fighting Colby Covington in the main event of UFC 272. The fight is a huge grudge match and currently, Covington is the favorite to win it.

Chael Sonnen was surprised Jorge Masvidal took the fight and gave him great praise for it. He feels like the main event of UFC 272 could be his last stand.

“In all fairness, I’ve really got to show respect to Masvidal because this is a career-ending fight,” Sonnen said on his YouTube channel. “It is that big of a deal. There will be that much attention and that much focus and that much hatred going into this battle that Jorge – who is the second biggest draw in combat right now, who’s coming off of two defeats – if he goes out there and he gets taken down and he gets mauled for 25 minutes, it is going to take a lot of luster off of the shine that is the second biggest draw, the BMF, Jorge Masvidal.

“It’s a big deal, and Jorge signed up anyway. God damn, I respect that.”

Many favor Colby Covington at UFC 272 due to his excellent stamina and strong wrestling. He fights at a very fast pace and he puts a lot of pressure on his opponents.

Jorge Masvidal will need to make a statement at UFC 272 and his boxing will need to be put to good use. A knockout in this one saves him while a loss does certainly hurt his career going forward.
