If anyone knows a great tight end when they see one, it's New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski.

Following the Patriots' 41-28 win over the Los Angeles Chargers in the Divisional Round of the playoffs on Sunday afternoon, Gronkowski shared his appreciation of Chargers' tight end Antonio Gates, who some feel played his last NFL game:

“I mean, Gates is a monster,” said Rob Gronkowski, according to Michael Hurley of CBS Boston. “I’ve been watching him since high school. Just to share the field with him again is definitely an honor. Just always looking up to him, ever since he’s been in the league. I got to see him after, say what’s up to him and wish him best of luck from whatever he does from here on out. But he’s a great player and a great role model for the league.”

Gates ended up with five catches for 41 yards and a touchdown, and afterward, he told reporters that he would like to come back next year, but that decision might actually be in the hands of the Chargers.

After all, Gates may not have even been back in Los Angeles this season had Hunter Henry not torn his ACL, as the Chargers re-signed Gates on a one-year deal right before the season started.

On the year overall, Gates hauled in just 28 receptions, his lowest mark since his rookie campaign. He also finished with 333 yards and only two touchdowns, with the latter also being his lowest number since his rookie season all the way back in 2003.
