The Los Angeles Chargers are excited to get star running back Melvin Gordon back on the field following his long holdout. While many were expecting Gordon to sit this week's game against the Miami Dolphins out, it appears that the team may have other plans.

According to a report from Mike Jones of USA Today, the Chargers are planning to play Gordon in a limited role this week against Miami.

Needless to say, this is a pretty big shock to most fans. Immediate reports after Gordon re-joined the team stated that he would not be playing this week and would have a week to prepare for his return to the field. Throwing him out there immediately shows that Gordon stayed in great shape and is ready to hit the ground running.

Los Angeles has received huge production from running back Austin Ekeler in Gordon's absence. It sounds like he will still get the bulk of the carries this week, but Gordon is going to get some run.

Having Gordon back on the field is going to have a major impact on the Chargers' offense. Philip Rivers will have a much more lethal ground game and Gordon is also a great receiver out of the backfield. He is going to help take the Chargers' offense to another level.

Expect to see Gordon make his season debut on Sunday against the lowly Dolphins. Los Angeles will be looking to come through with a big offensive performance and it will be great to see the star running back on the field once again.
