Melvin Gordon and the Los Angeles Chargers have been one of the biggest surprises in the NFL so far this season. After being unheralded coming into the season, the Chargers are now 8-3 on the season and appear to be a force to be reckoned with come playoff time. A big part of that has been due to their offense.

Unfortunately, Gordon suffered a knee injury and will be forced to miss Week 13. Thankfully, it sounds like the Chargers are going to get their star back on the field.

According to a report from Adam Schefter of ESPN, Gordon is expected to return “soon” from his injury.

Chargers running back Melvin Gordon is out Sunday night against the Steelers, but he could return as early as next week against the Bengals or the following Thursday night game against the Chiefs, sources told ESPN.

Gordon has put together a huge season for the Chargers in 2018. He has carried the football 153 times for 802 yards and nine touchdowns. In addition to his rushing numbers, Gordon has also caught 44 passes for 453 yards and four touchdowns this season.

At 25 years old, Gordon is without question one of the most dynamic running backs in the NFL. With him on the field, the Chargers are one of the most dangerous offenses in the NFL.

Philip Rivers has also been putting together a massive season. Even though his age is becoming a factor in how much longer he can play, the Chargers are showing no signs of slowing down.

All of that being said, the Chargers will be hoping to get Gordon back on the field next week. They need to finish the regular season strong and Gordon will be a key part of doing that.
