Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers thinks that wide receiver Mike Williams has quieted critics with his impressive play this season.

Williams has 37 receptions for 592 yards and nine touchdowns during the 2018 campaign, but there's no doubt that his biggest breakthrough of the season came in Thursday night's 29-28 win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

The former Clemson star had seven receptions for 76 yards and two touchdowns while also posting a rushing score, and it was his catch on the two-point conversion that sealed the win for the Chargers.

But Rivers has never had any concerns with the production of the talented second-year pro.

Here's what Rivers had to say about Williams' numbers this year, courtesy of Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk:

“The man’s caught nine touchdowns this year and this two-point conversion,” Rivers said. “Nobody in the locker room doubted why he was picked seventh, but if anybody on the outside had any questions, he’s answered those this season.”

Williams figures to play an important role going forward, as Anthony Lynn's squad is now firmly in the race for home-field advantage in the AFC after the huge win in Kansas City.

What was even more impressive about Los Angeles' victory was that it came without Melvin Gordon on the field, which just shows the amount of depth that Lynn has to work with on the current roster.

The Chargers will look to keep things rolling along next week when they host another potential playoff team in the Baltimore Ravens.
