Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Travis Benjamin played through a nagging foot injury in Week 4, but his premature return will cost him a couple games. Benjamin and Keenan Allen were both beat up heading into last week's game. They pulled out a 29-27 victory over the San Francisco 49ers in a nail-biter.

Benjamin only played a few snaps, but it was all he needed to find out he wasn't ready to compete at a high level. Sources report that he's expected to miss 2-3 weeks.

“He's a speed guy,” Chargers coach Anthony Lynn told ESPN. “It's not like it's a hamstring or an upper body injury, so he has to feel good about it before he gets out there. So we put him in the cast to take some of the pressure off his foot, just so he's not trying to practice.”

The seven-year vet definitely has some wheels. His 40-yard dash time is 4.36, which is a huge advantage when it comes to getting open. He spent four seasons lending his talents to the Cleveland Browns, but this is his third year with the Chargers.

Travis Benjamin only has two receptions for three yards this season. Clearly, his production will take a hit. Over the two previous seasons, he caught eight touchdown passes. The Chargers hope he'll be able to show what he's capable of if he returns in Week 8.

Next week, the Chargers will play the 1-3 Oakland Raiders. The Raiders are fresh off their first win of the season, so they'll want to extend their streak.
