There was a lot going against Charles Oliveira at UFC 274 when he famously lost his title before the fight even happened. He ended up winning the fight against Justin Gaethje but he was unable to get the title back.

Charles Oliveira spoke to ESPN recently and gave his take on the situation that went down in Arizona. The former UFC lightweight champion believes Arizona was actually going against him and the weight miss was done on purpose to make him lose the belt.

“So, for me, they could have ripped my leg off, it would still give the same weight. The city athletic commission robbed me, they robbed me. That’s the reality. They wanted to take my belt off to mess with my head, but it happened the other way around. This served to show the division and the world that I am another Charles, lightweight champion. No matter how much they try to mess with my head, I am the champion,” the UFC lightweight said.

Charles Oliveira continued, “The city commission robbed me, they wanted the champion to be from their city, but it didn’t even come close. I think there was some pressure on the scale. Anyone could go up, I wouldn’t make weight.”

It's certainly an interesting theory and many seem to think the scale was messed with before the weigh-ins at UFC 275 which led to Charles Oliveira missing weight. Either way, Oliveira ended up beating Justin Gaethje by submission, and the Brazilian is now expected to fight for the belt in his next fight at lightweight.
