Chelsea legend John Terry has opened up on the departure of Mason Mount from the club. The English midfielder joined Manchester United this summer.
According to the reports from Fabrizio Romano, Terry was speaking to Simon Phillips during the international break. He said, “Mase is proper Chels through and through. There are always two sides to a story; I know the other side to it”.
“I’m not going to air that now, but there’s another side to the story. Let’s not be too harsh on Mason when he comes back”
Chelsea has splashed the cash this summer, bringing in almost an entirely new squad this summer. However, it has only been made possible after a few key departures. Alongside Mount moving to Manchester United, the Blues also sold Kai Havertz to Arsenal. They allowed N'Golo Kante, Ruben Loftus Cheek, Kalidou Koulibaly, Christian Pulisic, and Romelu Lukaku to leave the club.
Manchester United and Chelsea do not play each other until 7th December this year. On 3rd April 2024, Mount will return to Stamford Bridge for the first time since his exit. We can expect many more storylines to develop once these fixtures come close.
Considering the fact that a Chelsea legend is speaking so fondly about Mount despite him joining a league rival shows there is something fishy. Mount has come through the ranks of Chelsea and was a key member of the side that won the Champions League in 2021. The English midfielder has started two Premier League games for Manchester United so far but is now sidelined due to a long-term injury.
