Chelsea has remained open to the idea of bringing West Ham midfielder Declan Rice back.

Things have been completely different for Declan Rice in recent years but Chelsea has not forgotten about him.

It can be recalled that Chelsea was Rice’s boyhood club but the Blues decided to let him go at age 14.

Though the Englishman has already established himself as one of the key figures at West Ham, reputable transfer insider and Eurosport’s Dean Jones revealed that Chelsea is still interested in acquiring Rice.

According to Jones, he is certain Thomas Tuchel’s side will pursue Rice once again despite the Hammers not being keen on selling the midfield sensation.

“One thing for sure is that Chelsea are completely open to bringing him [Rice] back, and that they’ll keep those discussions open,” Jones exclusively told Give Me Sport. “And West Ham obviously don’t want to sell him.”

“We’ll see how the season goes for them,” he added.

Apart from Chelsea, Manchester United is another English Premier League giant keeping tabs on Rice’s situation, ESPN reported.

The report added that Manchester United “remain keen” on landing Rice despite the having not invested much on midfielders this past transfer window.

Moreoever, Red Devils manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and club executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward are well aware of the fans’ demand to bring in a well-rounded midfielder.

However, sources have told ESPN that Manchester United had figured that the need to add a “winger” and a “center-back” was more of a necessity at the time.
