The Kansas City Chiefs extended their win streak to six games after taking down the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 7 at home, 31-17. Tight end Travis Kelce had a huge role in the victory of the reigning Super Bowl champions in that contest, but the performance of wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling shouldn't be forgotten. Kansas City head coach Andy Reid certainly did not forget about Valdes-Scantling's showing.

“I thought we had good stuff in for him that popped,” Reid said Monday via video conference (h/t Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk). “We normally have a handful of plays in there that have his name on them but sometimes the coverage is different, a few things go into that. He had opportunities [Sunday], where he ran good routes or Pat [Mahomes] was scrambling and found him.”

Scantling finished second on the team in the Chargers game with 84 receiving yards and a touchdown on three catches and five targets. Kelce paced the Chiefs with 179 receiving yards on 12 receptions and 13 targets. Kansas City star quarterback Patrick Mahomes gave most of his attention to Kelce, as the Chargers had no answer for him, but Valdes-Scantling still managed to find a way to make a big impact on the limited targets he got.

Kelce has been doing most of the heavy lifting for the Chiefs downfield this season, so Reid and Kansas City must be more than pleased to see someone from its wide receiver corps make such a big influence in the meeting with the Chargers.
