Not long ago a video of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes playing basketball surfaced, and he was dazzling. Following that, the GM of the team told the young star that he could not play basketball anymore.

The news is not all bad, though. Mahomes is allowed to play Call of Duty and Fortnite, according to a tweet from Andrew Siciliano.

Brett Veach is being very generous to Mahomes allowing him to have some fun when he is not on the football field. Plus, Fortnite is all the rage right now.

All sarcastic comments aside, Veach is just protecting his asset. Make no mistake, Mahomes is the number one asset for the Chiefs. He is much less likely to get hurt playing the video games than playing basketball.

Think of the non-contact injuries that occur on the basketball court. Those things happen to guys who are in the best shape to play the game, Mahomes is in football shape. The Chiefs would be devastated if he got hurt playing football, let alone doing something else.

There are still a few unanswered questions. Mahomes proved he can ball on the court, but how are his video game skills? Online gaming gets serious, but based on how good the quarterback is at everything else he should do fine.

Good on Veach for taking this thing with humor. He is sinking the future of his franchise into Mahomes and it is not insane to ask he lower injury risk…or at least not get filmed when doing things that can hurt him. With as good as Mahomes already is, devastation is an understatement if he were to get hurt.

The irony here is that Veach is suggesting games where Mahomes can get killed.
