The Kansas City Chiefs scored under their season average and Patrick Mahomes did not throw a touchdown pass during their Divisional Round playoff matchup against the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday night, but it didn't matter, as the Chiefs came away with a decisive 31-13 win.

Kansas City actually won with its defense for a change, with Indianapolis scoring only one offensive touchdown.

The Chiefs' defense ranked 31st in the league this season, but it showed up big time on Saturday, and linebacker Justin Houston is assuring us that Kansas City's impressive defensive performance was no fluke:

While the Chiefs definitely looked fantastic, it is going to take a little more than just 60 minutes to sell us on their defense, as there is a reason why it allowed 405.5 yards and 26.3 points per game during the regular season.

However, it was hard not to come away impressed with the way Kansas City's defense played against a red-hot Colts team that ranked seventh in offensive yards and fifth in scoring on the year.

Houston, who turned 30 years old on Saturday, had a rather significant role in the Chiefs' win, registering a pair of sacks.

The Statesboro, Ga. native has been ravaged by injuries over the last several years, but in 12 games this season, he remained productive, racking up 37 tackles, nine sacks, an interception, five forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.

Back in 2014, Houston led the league with 22 sacks, just a half-sack shy of tying Michael Strahan's single-season record of 22.5 sacks.

The Chiefs will take on the winner of the Los Angeles Chargers-New England Patriots game next week.
