The Kansas City Chiefs won the remarkable AFC Divisional Round against the Buffalo Bills, but not without a few setbacks. Free safety and Walter Payton Man of the Year Tyrann Mathieu missed most of the Sunday night game due to a head injury. He left the field after the opening drive, entered concussion protocols, and did not return.
Fortunately, it sounds like Mathieu will be available for the Chiefs vs Cincinnati Bengals AFC Championship Game. Kansas City radio host Bob Fescoe tweeted the news Tuesday morning.
Per a source the Chiefs are expecting Fenton and Mathieu to be able to go on Sunday #chiefskingdom @610SportsKC

Fescoe also noted that Rashad Fenton is also expected to play on Sunday. The cornerback hasn't played since Week 18 and is dealing with a back injury he suffered a back injury before the Chiefs' Wild Card win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Mathieu was also very active on Twitter Tuesday morning, providing optimism for Chiefs fans. One tweet in particular gave Kansas City reassurance that he will be available Sunday afternoon.
Thanks for all the prayers and support! I done shook back like only i can. God is faithful.

This is great news for the Chiefs, but it isn't surprising. On Monday, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said that Mathieu was “feeling good” going through concussion protocol.
Mathieu has been a huge part to the Chiefs' defense this season. The free safety recorded 76 tackles, one sack, and six defended passes in the regular season. He will be a main contributor to stopping Joe Burrow and the Bengals on Sunday.
