The Kansas City Chiefs will be without running back LeSean McCoy during their matchup with the Chicago Bears on Sunday Night Football, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

McCoy is not currently dealing with an injury that is keeping him sidelined. Instead, he's being classified as a ‘healthy scratch' ahead of the Chiefs' playoff push. It's worth noting that this isn't the first time he has been surprisingly ruled inactive before the start of a game. However, he was the team's starting back over their last three outings.

The role that McCoy has played with the Chiefs this season hasn't been large. The most carries he has received in a single game this season was 12 against the Denver Broncos. He has received double-figure carries in just four of his 13 appearances.

Even in a smaller role, McCoy has managed to produce respectable results. He has totaled 465 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns on 101 carries. In addition, he has recorded 28 receptions resulting in 181 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown.

One recent factor that has contributed to McCoy's decline in playing time was the mid-season acquisition of Spencer Ware. The prior knowledge of the Chiefs' offense has enabled him to quickly become reacclimated with the team, resulting in a decline in opportunities for Kansas City's other backs.

The results that Ware has achieved haven't been stellar but he has still led the Chiefs in playing time. In two appearances, he has 12 carries for 37 rushing yards along with three receptions with translating to no receiving yards.
