The record-breaking signing of Super Bowl LIV Finals MVP Patrick Mahomes sent shockwaves around the league and cities. The Kansas City Chiefs QB and team have reached an agreement on a 10-year contract extension, $477 million and includes $63 million fully guaranteed at signing. Chief fans are excited, as they are now locked in with their franchise quarterback for the seasons to come.

Kansas City liquor store manager Katie Camlin went to work on Monday with surprising news. Several Chiefs employees had come to their Plaza Liquor store in search of six bottles of Dom Perignon champagne. She couldn't contain her excitement as she immediately tweeted the story.

“Off the cuff, I tweeted it because I’m a Chiefs fan and I was beyond excited,” Camlin told USA TODAY Sports by phone Monday evening. “It’s kind of fun to have a scoop.”

Less than two hours after Camlin’s short-lived tweet, ESPN’s Adam Schefter broke the news that Mahomes and the Chiefs had agreed to terms on a 10-year deal.  The quarterback still has two seasons left on his contract prior to the extension.

Camlin was cautious that she might get in trouble for breaking out the news and has since deleted the tweet.

The Kansas City Chiefs selected Mahomes with the 10th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Since then, he has bagged the 2018 MVP award, two trips to the Pro Bowl, and a First-team All-Pro inclusion.

With the return of Mahomes, the Chiefs will aim to make a run to defend their Super Bowl title. If there is anyone deserving to get a record-breaking deal, it would be a 24-year old who has already exceeded expectations and successfully brought a title to Chiefs Kingdom.
