Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is done with sitting around. After seeing the Los Angeles Rams defeat Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl 56, the former NFL MVP and Super Bowl champion decided that it's time to get down to work and prepare for the 2022 NFL season.

There's really nothing that motivates competitive people more than seeing others achieve something they believe should have been theirs.

Mahomes and the Chiefs struck out in the 2022 NFL Playoffs when they lost to Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship Game. The Chiefs were so close to making the Super Bowl for the third year in a row, but it was just the Bengals' time to rule the conference.

Just two years ago, the Chiefs, led by Mahomes, won the Super Bowl by beating the San Francisco 49ers in 2020. They made it back to that stage again in 2021, but lost to Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Nevertheless, as long as they have Mahomes under center, Kansas City is going to be a force to reckon with not just in the AFC but in the entire league.

With the Bengals establishing themselves as also a big player in the AFC, expect Mahomes to use that as additional fuel in his preparation and training in the offseason.
