There's a new Captain America in town, and his name is Sam Wilson. The Marvel universe has made it pretty clear that Steve Rogers (played by Chris Evans) is done playing the role. The final scene in Avengers: Endgame and the subsequent Disney+ mini-series all but confirmed what we already knew. Sam Wilson IS Captain America.

And yet, there are still many people speculating a return by Chris Evans to a Marvel movie. As Captain America 4 was being announced, a few outlets wrote about a potential return by Evans as the “original” Cap. That is despite the actor's numerous statements saying that he won't be doing that anytime soon.

It seems like Evans finally grew tired of all the rumors, based on his recent tweet. The former Captain America star shut down any rumors of him reprising his role with a simple 5-word tweet.

It's understandable for fans to grow attached to a certain actor playing a key role. For over a decade, Chris Evans was synonymous with Captain America. The actor played an important part in helping the Marvel Cinematic Universe be the worldwide phenomenon that it is today. However, all good things must eventually come to an end.

There's also the fact that Chris Evans' contract with Marvel ended in 2019 after the release of Avengers: Endgame. Barring any future developments, it's very likely that we have seen the last of Evans in his iconic blue suit. Evans' continued support for Anthony Mackie (who plays Sam Wilson) should hopefully encourage die-hard fans to support the new movie.
