The Los Angeles Clippers lost to the Utah Jazz in the opening game of the series. LA played great in the first half but fell apart in the third and fourth quarters. It came down to the wire though, as the game was finalized by a Rudy Gobert block to seal Utah's victory.

Statistically speaking, the game was close enough to where the Clippers don't need to make too many adjustments to their game plan. Outside of Donovan Mitchell, it wasn't like the Jazz dominated in scoring. Only three other players scored double-digit points, and none of them scored more than 20.

Los Angeles should be aiming to take control of the paint, as it could put Rudy Gobert into some foul trouble. Additionally, the Clippers would benefit from having their rotational players stepping up, while also slowing down Donovan Mitchell. With that said, here are three adjustments the Clippers must make for Game 2 against the Jazz.

Increase points in the paint

The Jazz outscored the Clippers in the paint 36-28 in Game 1. This is an area LA could take advantage of and give themselves a massive advantage. Rudy Gobert is undeniably one of the best shot blockers in the NBA. For that reason, he tends to foul his opponents while attempting to block their shots. This should be a strategy the Clippers attempt to exploit in the next game.

Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are two of the best when it comes to scoring. The Clippers' superstar duo should be aggressive in the next game by taking it to the rack often. This would open up LA's game plan drastically. Attacking the rim could put Gobert into foul trouble, while simultaneously creating open looks for their teammates around the perimeter.

Get the rotational players going

Luke Kennard was the only other Clipper outside of Leonard and George to score double-digit points with 18. He had a solid game, but Los Angeles will need the rest of the team to step up. Reggie Jackson has to find a way to become more of a scoring option for the Clippers. On top of that, getting Marcus Morris more open looks wouldn't hurt either.

One underrated player that could become more involved in the game plan is Demarcus Cousins. In just four minutes on Tuesday night, “Boogie” put up 6 points, 3 rebounds, and a steal. He's not the same player he used to be, but if that's the type of production he's giving, Tyronn Lue has to find more playing time for the big man.

Slow down Donovan Mitchell

A task much easier said than done, but for the Clippers to win Game 2, they have to shut him down. Mithcell is one of the league's best scorers, but LA has a ton of perimeter defenders at their disposal. The coaching staff went away from Patrick Beverley in the first round, but matching him up against Mitchell could be the key to defeating the first place Jazz.

Look for Los Angeles to put a plethora of defenders on Mitchell in game two. Transitioning between Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, and Patrick Beverley could be exactly what the Clippers need to slow down Utah's super star guard.
