Paul George was deemed healthy enough to finally make his Los Angeles Clippers debut against the Toronto Raptors, but he still remained in the team’s inactive list on Monday.

Fans are now expecting him to suit up in the Clips’ next game against the Houston Rockets on Wednesday. Head coach Doc Rivers, however, said that George’s availability still remains uncertain, per Tomer Azarly.

After finishing third in MVP voting for the Oklahoma City Thunder last year, George elected to have surgery to fix preexisting issues on both of his shoulders in the offseason. He tallied exceptional numbers of 28.0 points, 8.2 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and 2.2 steals in 77 regular season games last season.

He continued that hot streak in the postseason, but the Thunder eventually got eliminated by the Portland Trail Blazers in the first round, which many believe played a factor in his decision to request for a trade.

It’s quite understandable that the Clippers are taking a cautious approach with the 29-year-old swingman, given how they gave up some prime assets to acquire him in a massive three-team deal over the summer to pair up with another two-way superstar in Kawhi Leonard.

Leonard has already sat out two of the team’s first nine games due to load management, in a bid to preserve him come playoff time. The sight of Leonard and George sharing the same floor together should be enough to send chills to opposing wing players.

They have started the season at 6-3 and still remain as clear cut contenders to hoist the Larry O’Brien trophy come playoff time.
