Since the beginning of the regular season, there have been constant trade rumors surrounding DeAndre Jordan. Jordan, who is undoubtedly one of the best starting centers in the NBA, has played well for the Clippers this year. He is currently averaging 11.5 points and 14.9 rebounds per game. With his production boost, the Clippers find themselves on the brink of making the postseason.

In any case, the Clippers still wanted to trade Jordan, who reportedly turned down a contract extension. This report was at least confirmed by team consultant Jerry West, who publicly stated during a team event for season-ticket holders that the Clippers offered Jordan a contract extension which he turned down, according to ClutchPoint's Tomer Azarly.

Jerry West at last night's #Clippers season-ticket holder event – ‘The Clippers offered DeAndre [Jordan] an extension, so it is not like we were discarding him, period…He did not accept it, which is fine, and he now has an agent.'

There is certainly two sides to every story. Though, in West's version, there is some doubt about Jordan's commitment to the Clippers. If the Clippers offered Jordan a contract extension, it shows that the franchise wanted to commit to him. If Jordan turned it down, it either wasn't what he was looking for, or he could look to leave once he becomes a free agent.

Jordan will earn $22 million this year, and he is probably looking for a massive payday somewhere else. Obviously, the Clippers couldn't find a trade deal for Jordan before the deadline. Therefore, it will be interesting to see the moves of both parties moving forward.
