The latest NBA free agency bomb is regarding Los Angeles Clippers superstar Kawhi Leonard. According to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, Leonard is set to return to the Clippers. Terms of the deal are still being discussed, per Haynes.

This seemed like the obvious move all along, although reports came out that other teams were going to try to make a run at Leonard. One of the best two-way players in the NBA, Leonard essentially would have fit well on every single team in the NBA, but he was never leaving the Clippers.

In his second season with the Clippers, Leonard averaged 24.8 points while shooting 51.2 percent from the field and adding 6.5 rebounds and 5.2 assists. Of course, Leonard was injured against the Utah Jazz in the Western Conference Semis and missed the entirety of the WCF against the Phoenix Suns.

It was then announced that Leonard underwent surgery on his ACL in the middle of July, putting his status for the 2021-22 NBA season in serious jeopardy.

While the official timetable for his return is up in the air, it is likely that he missed anywhere from six months to a year, depending on the rehab and recovery.

Either way, Leonard has re-signed with the Clippers, and they will try and stay afloat as they wait for him to return.
