Apparently, Paul George was not the only player that Kawhi Leonard successfully recruited to the Los Angeles Clippers. According to NBA insider Shams Charania, Leonard also personally pitched forward JaMychal Green, who officially re-signed with the Clippers on Thursday:

“I’m told Leonard has been steadfast in his recruitment of players this summer, not only pitching George but also free agents such as JaMychal Green, who is returning on a two-year deal with a player option. PG was no easy snag for them, and it’s a testament to Leonard, the organization and everyone involved for it to get done.”

Obviously Green's signing will be overlooked by the George acquisition, considering George was an MVP candidate last season.

However, there is a good reason Leonard pursued the former Grizzlies forward. Green might not be as big of a player as Paul George, but he still will be a great rotation piece for Los Angeles.

Green is a solid three-point shooter that can help spread the floor even further for Leonard and George. Last season, he shot 41 percent on just over three attempts a game.

In Memphis, Green developed a reputation as a talented rebounder and a great energy guy. Often, he would come off the bench and spark runs for the Grizzlies.

This spark off of the bench will be welcomed in L.A. when Leonard and George take breathers. The Klaw made an excellent recruitment call and got his team a great bench piece.
