The L.A. Clippers were looking to make one last move before the trade deadline expired this past Thursday. And no, it wasn't the coveted big man DeAndre Jordan, but rather the recently-acquired Avery Bradley, who has seen his third uniform in eight months.

Among the interested suitors were the San Antonio Spurs, who were looking to acquire the three-and-D specialist before the opportunity went away. The Western Conference titans were reportedly “very interested” in Bradley, “but the price was too high,” according to Marc Stein of The New York Times, who was a guest on Nate Duncan's Dunc'd On podcast.

“They wanted a first rounder for him and just couldn't get it,” said Stein.

The Spurs were reportedly discussing an offer involving Danny Green and a first-round pick, but it obviously went nowhere, as Bradley stayed put through the deadline.

The 6-foot-2 hound dog has been scuffing after a meteoric rise in his start to the season with his new team, the Detroit Pistons. Though as the season went on, his poor acumen from the floor caught up to him, unable to shoot at the 46.3 percent consistency he mustered in his last season with the Boston Celtics.

Bradley has shot only 42.1 percent this season and has struggled to be the improving scorer he was with the Celtics, but being in his eighth year in the league mustered some sort of hope for a team that is famous for yielding the most out of their players' talents.

Ultimately, the cards weren't the right ones to make the trade, but don't discount the Spurs making a run at him again in the offseason.
