Los Angeles Clippers shooting guard Lou Williams is denying that Stephen A. Smith's rumor about Kawhi Leonard and Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is true.

Smith reported on ESPN's First Take on Wednesday that Leonard said, “Someone tell LeBron stop being scared to guard me!”

The Clippers are 2-0 against the Lakers this season. Leonard has dominated James in the first two matchups between the Lakers and Clippers. The 2014 and 2019 Finals MVP is averaging 32.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists versus the Lakers while shooting 55.3 percent from the field, 50.0 percent from beyond the arc and 94.4 percent from the free-throw line.

James, meanwhile, is putting up 20.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 9.0 assists against the Clippers and shooting just 37.2 percent from the floor, 17.6 percent from the 3-point line and 75.0 percent from the charity stripe. The Lakers missed the playoffs last season, but appear in control of the Western Conference playoff race thus far this season after adding superstar big man Anthony Davis via a trade in July.

LeBron James has been the best player in the NBA for the last decade or more. However, after Kawhi Leonard guided the Toronto Raptors to their first-ever championship last season, many believe he has taken over that spot.

This dynamic only adds to the intrigue in the rivalry between the two Los Angeles teams.
