The LA Clippers eliminated the Dallas Mavericks in Game 6 of their Western Conference first round series on Sunday afternoon, moving on to the second round. The game was chippy, and once again saw technical fouls as well as flagrant fouls being handed out, including the controversial play involving Marcus Morris and Luka Doncic.

It took them a few days, but the NBA has announced a $35K fine for Morris for his flagrant foul penalty two on Doncic in the first quarter of Game 6. Morris was fined for ‘recklessly striking' Doncic ‘above the shoulders,' and the amount of the fine was based in part on the fact that Morris has been disciplined on several prior occasions for physical altercations on the court.

After the game, Morris said he believes the referee made the right call.

“I thought it was a hard foul, ended up getting him above his shoulders,” Marcus Morris said of the foul on Luka Doncic. “They had to make that call. I think, honestly, just we had a lot of back and forth this series. It was a hard-fought series. I just don’t want people to mistake playing basketball, playing hard with trying to hurt somebody.”

In addition to the Morris fine, the league also announced a $15K fine for Doncic for throwing the game ball at a referee in the third quarter of Game 6.

The Clippers won Game 6 111-97 and will now play the Denver Nuggets in the second round of the playoffs.

Through the first round, Morris is averaging 12.8 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 1.3 steals and 2.3 three-pointers per game on 53.7 percent shooting from the field and 53.8 percent from beyond the arc.
