Los Angeles Clippers point guard Patrick Beverley was knocked from Wednesday's game against the Toronto Raptors and unable to return — quite literally.

Beverley has been diagnosed with a concussion and missed the remainder of the contest due to the ailment.

Due to the injury, Beverley tied for a season low in minutes played prior to his departure. He collected 11 points on 4-for-8 shooting (including 3-for-5 from deep) across his 19 minutes, while also adding four rebounds and two assists. Jerome Robinson saw an additional few minutes off the bench, but it was mainly a by committee approach at the point guard spot without Beverley in the mix.

The tenacious heart and soul of the Clippers, Beverley has started all 24 games that he has appeared in this season. He entered the night on pace to set a new career high in rebounds per game (6.4) despite his general shooting woes (39.6 percent overall). The early departure did aide in marking just the second time all season that Beverley has gone without committing a personal foul.

His next chance at returning to the court comes Friday versus the Minnesota Timberwolves, but it's unclear if Beverley could clear the league's concussion protocol in so short of a time frame.

Beverley's absence would pave the way for Lou Williams to see more duties at the point spot, while Derrick Walton Jr. could enter the starting five if head coach Doc Rivers opts for having a traditional point guard on the court to open the game.
