Injuries piled up during the Dallas Mavericks versus Los Angeles Clippers match at the American Airlines Center on Tuesday, as LA defensive dynamo Patrick Beverley also had to leave the game prematurely due to a sore right groin.

Shortly after the Mavs lost Dwight Powell to what appears to be a season-ending Achilles injury in the first quarter, the Clippers were also a man short when Beverley was unable to return in the second half due to a sore groin.

Lou Williams took his place at the beginning of the third quarter.

Patrick Beverley had nine points, four rebounds and four assists in 15 minutes of action before leaving the match. The 31-year-old guard was also the primary defender of Mavs' star Luka Doncic in the first half.

Serving as the heart and soul of the Clippers' defense, Bev has been tallying 8.3 points, 6.1 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.3 steal in 35 games for head coach Doc Rivers. The one-time NBA All-Defensive First Team member has also been reliable on offense, knocking down 42 percent of his field goals and 33.8 percent of his attempts from past the arc.

Despite his absence, the Clippers still came away with a hard-fought 110-107 road victory.

Without Patrick Beverley hounding him in the second half, Doncic had a near triple-double for the Mavs with 36 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists. Dallas, however, had no answer for Kawhi Leonard who also had 36 points and 11 boards in 32 minutes. Landry Shamet and Williams added 18 and 16 markers, respectively.

The Clippers improved to 31-13 in the season, while the Mavs dropped to 27-16.
