The new season comes to the L.A. Clippers with a complete new-look roster, with only two returning starters in the team and plenty of youth to start the post-Chris Paul era in 2017-18.

Defensive ace Patrick Beverley was one of the players coming in return for the All-Star dime wizard. To him, this trade is more than just another destination, but a chance to hit the ground running.

The 6-foot-1 point guard has slimmed down the past two offseasons, boasting the best shape of his NBA career after transforming his body even more this summer.

“I'm down to 184 lbs. and five percent body fat,” Beverley told Alex Kennedy of HoopsHype. “Two years ago, I was at 217 lbs. and last year I was at 195 lbs. I'm just continuing to change my body each year and I'm super excited.”

“I'm steadily trimming down and trimming down so I can be as light as possible, while also staying as strong as possible. I feel like I'm in the best shape of my life. I've never been in this great of shape. Ever. I think this is a great opportunity for me to go out there and prove some people wrong and have fun doing it.”

As the most experienced veteran, Beverley figures to be the starting point guard on this new-look Clippers team — giving him an opportunity to make an impact in ways he hasn't been able to throughout his five seasons in the league.
