Reggie Jackson is close friends with Los Angeles Clippers star Paul George, and according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Jackson has wanted to play with George for a while now.

Jackson is getting a buyout from the Detroit Pistons, and he reportedly plans to sign with the Clippers once it is finalized.

The 29-year-old guard has appeared in only 14 games for the Pistons this season. He’s averaging 14.9 points, 2.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists while shooting 38.4 percent from the field, 37.8 percent from beyond the arc and 78.8 percent from the free-throw line.

Jackson has career NBA averages of 12.9 points, 3.0 rebounds and 4.4 assists with the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Pistons. He becomes an unrestricted free agent after the 2019-20 campaign ends.

The Clippers are 37-18 on the season and in third place in the Western Conference standings.

After their recent move at the trade deadline, the Clippers are expected start Patrick Beverley, Paul George, Kawhi Leonard, Marcus Morris and Ivica Zubac moving forward, with Reggie Jackson coming off the bench.

George is averaging 21.7 points, 6.1 rebounds and 3.9 assists on the season. He’s shooting 42.6 percent from the floor, 39.4 percent from the 3-point line and 89.9 percent from the charity stripe.

The Clippers open the second half of the season on Saturday at home against the Sacramento Kings.
