On Monday night, the Louisville Cardinals will take on the Ole Miss Rebels to close week one of college football. It's time to continue our college football odds series and make a Louisville-Ole Miss prediction and pick.

A great first week of college football ends with another ACC vs. SEC clash. So far, the SEC has dominated these matchups, and Ole Miss will look to continue that trend. Head coach Lane Kiffin's squad will rely on a fantastic offense to win games, just like they did last season. Louisville comes into this contest as a bit of a wild card after losing many pieces to the NFL draft, but they remain a solid overall squad. Neither of these teams have any ideas of winning their conference, instead hoping that this year serves as a building block for seasons to come. This should be an exciting Monday night game, so let's get into the pick.

Here's how the bookmakers have set the odds for Monday night's game.

College Football Odds: Louisville-Ole Miss Odds

Louisville Cardinals +9 (-110)

Ole Miss Rebels -9 (-110)

Over 75 1/2 points (-110)

Why Louisville Could Cover The Spread

Louisville's hopes of covering and winning are both centered around their offense. Quarterback Malik Cunningham is back to lead an attack that averaged 444 yards per game and 6.4 yards per play a year ago. Cunningham has a strong supporting cast around him, starting with an offensive line that returns four of five starters from last season. Wide receivers Jordan Watkins and Braden Smith are young but promising pass-catchers that should help Cunningham settle in quickly. This offense was solid last year, and that shouldn't change too much in this campaign.

Helping this Cardinals offense succeed is the fact that Ole Miss is a poor defensive team. The Rebels struggled to get any pressure on opposing quarterbacks last season, and as a result, they struggled to stop the pass. This defense allowed a whopping 38.3 points per game to go along with 519 yards per game. Ole Miss hasn't done much to improve this abysmal unit, so Louisville should be scoring at a high rate.

Why Ole Miss Could Cover The Spread

Unfortunately for the Cardinals, this Ole Miss team was built for shootouts. They look more like a Big 12 team than an SEC team with quarterback Matt Corral at the helm, and it's worked out pretty well for them. The Rebels posted nearly 40 points per game last year, making them the fourteenth-best scoring offense in the nation. The offensive line returns four starters from last season, and the wide receiver corps is loaded with talent in Braylon Sanders and Dontario Drummond. This offense will be one of the best in all of college football for the second season straight.

Helping the Rebels is the fact that Louisville is far from a defensive powerhouse. The Cardinals lost six defensive starters in the offseason, making a unit that was only slightly better than the Rebels' defense last year significantly weaker. Two starting linebackers are gone from last year's unit, as well as both starting safeties. Ole Miss should move the ball at will against this Cardinals defense, which is one of the worst in the ACC.

Final Louisville-Ole Miss Prediction & Pick

This should be a shootout in every sense of the word, but a 75 1/2 point over/under is tough to pick confidently. Ole Miss is the best pick on the board here, as they should drop 40 or 50 points on this defense. Louisville's offense shouldn't be able to keep up, even against a poor Rebels defense. Lock in Ole Miss and don't look back.

FINAL PICK: Ole Miss Rebels -9 (-110)
