Bad news continues to pile up for head coach Deion Sanders and Colorado football. The Buffaloes are riding a four-game losing streak and they took another loss on an off day. Class of 2024 four-star wide receiver Winston Watkins Jr. decommitted from the program, deciding to reopen his recruitment since he's so early into the process, per Blake Baumgartner at ESPN.

” This was a tough decision to make, but after long talks with my dad, I have decided to de-commit from the University of Colorado and open up my recruitment!!! Colorado will still be one of my top schools!!!,” said Watkins in his breaking news post, via Instagram.

Watkins committed to Sanders and Colorado football just one day after Sanders took the job and was always very open to his trust and belief in Sanders. He likely wanted to stamp his name early and be a stone for that class that's able to help recruit players, but there are always visits and offers coming in that can persuade a player.

” I just want to study every college that is recruiting me and continue to pray that I am making the right decision that I feel is best for me and my family on National Signing Day in December of 2024!!! No more commitments until National Signing Day in December 2024 (signing on the line) !!!!,” said Watkins.

There's ample time for Sanders and his staff to get the 2025 class in order, but it's a tough blow and just another problem piling up on his desk. Watkins may still have them in mind, but only time will tell if Colorado is the right place for the playmaker.
