Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck revealed a couple weeks ago that he plans to get together with his wide receivers and work out ahead of training camp. Although, he did not specify exactly when that’ll be.

But based on a recent tweet by Colts receiver Chester Rogers, it seems as if that pre-camp workout is coming this week. Rogers said he’ll be heading to Stanford, which is Luck’s alma mater as well as his preferred offseason getaway.

Those upcoming workouts will be important for a couple of different reasons. For one, Luck will get the chance to continue his progress in working his way back to throwing a football. He’s only been back to doing so for around a month after over a year out, so he’s still got work to do to return to his old self with that skill.

And secondly, it’ll give Luck a chance to get acquainted with his receivers. Apart from T.Y. Hilton and Rogers, none of the other Colts receivers currently on the roster has even played with Luck. And in Rogers’ case, he’s had all of one season with Luck back in 2016, where he caught 19 balls for 273 yards as a rookie.

It’s imperative for Luck to establish at least some sort of chemistry with his receivers ahead of the season. With the Colts’ lack of truly proven options at the position, he’ll need to find ways to make them as effective as possible. Their workouts this week should go some way toward strengthening that connection that they’ll need once the season begins.
