One of the good things about being a professional football player is your ability to care for your loved ones, as Indianapolis Colts linebacker Darius Leonard found out.

The former second-round pick gifted his mom with a Mercedes-Benz over the weekend, and TMZ Sports has a video of Leonard's mom enjoying the gift from her son.

The 23-year-old was recently named Rookie of the Year after he led the NFL in tackles and being named to the All-Pro.

However, Darius Leonard recently told Yahoo! Sports that he surprised himself with his sudden, almost overnight, success in the NFL.

Leonard, a second-round pick, led the NFL with 163 tackles and established himself as the star of the Colts defense in his first season. Leonard also had seven sacks and two interceptions, as he instantly became one of the NFL’s best playmakers. Leonard was an All-Pro pick. He beat out Chargers safety Derwin James, who also was a first-team All-Pro as a rookie. “I honestly thought I’d have to take a backseat role, take a year or two to get my feet wet,” Leonard said. “I definitely surprised myself.”

It looks like Darius Leonard will definitely have a bright future in the NFL, especially if he continues on the path that he's on.

He's just three years away from a big NFL contract, so as long as he keeps up the good work, he can expect another big paycheck.

However, we're certain that nothing will have the same impact on his mother like getting a beloved car from her beloved son.
