The Indianapolis Colts have spent much of the early offseason restructure their roster to bounce back in a major way next season. The team is holding expectations that Pro Bowl quarterback Andrew Luck will be back in the fold after missing the entire 2017 season due to injury.

This set the table for the front office to make moves to add more talent around Luck that included the addition of former Detroit Lions tight end Eric Ebron via free agency. According to Stephen Holder of the Indy Star, new head coach Frank Reich voiced much praise labeling Ebron as an “elite” player at his position.

It is clear that Reich plans to heavily involve Ebron in the offensive game plan as a primary fixture in the passing game. Keep in mind, he had a similar philosophy with the Philadelphia Eagles as their offensive coordinator where he utilized Pro Bowl tight Zach Ertz as a big target in the passing game that helped lead to much success.

The 24-year-old is coming off a season where he had a notable drop in production recording 53 catches for 574 receiving yards and four touchdowns. This is a major step down from his breakout 2016 season where he had career highs across the board with 61 catches for 711 receiving yards and a touchdown.

However, Reich believes that Ebron can come in and become one of Luck's main targets in the passing game that could be a threat in the red zone.It may simply be the opportunity to play a more expanded role than he did in Detroit that could lead to him finally breaking through.

Beyond that, he will have the chance in front of him to become a huge piece of the puzzle for the Colts' long-term future.
