The Week 1 starting quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts still is up in the air and coach Frank Reich has told Jacoby Brissett that he is the number one quarterback until Andrew Luck is back and that's the type of mindset that he needs to have.

Via Mike Chappell in Fox59:

“We just tell him, ‘When you’re in, you’re the No. 1 quarterback. You’re the No. 1 quarterback until Andrew comes back. That’s the mindset you have to have. You’re the No. 1 guy. Be the No. 1 guy. Be that guy.’’’

In Saturday's Colts game, Brissett looked really good throwing for 100 yards and a touchdown. Brissett struggled in the first preseason game and Reich thinks it was a good confidence booster for everyone that he had a strong bounce back.

“Just a really good confidence-builder for our offense to get Jacoby to play like that,’’ Reich said. “That’s what we’ve been seeing in practice. It’s just good to have one in a preseason game.’’

In terms of if Luck is going to be ready for the season no one outside the organization really seems to know, and there is a chance people inside the organization might not know either.

Luck completed a warmup before Saturday's game but still hasn't been a participant during team drills during training camp. It was first reported that Luck had a calf injury that popped up earlier in the offseason but that has now morphed into an ankle injury and there really isn't a timetable for his return. The hope is for Week 1, but if he can't go Brissett will be ready to go.
