The Indianapolis Colts have officially brought abroad their next head coach in former Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Frank Reich.

In his introductory press conference on Tuesday afternoon, Reich confirmed that he will assume the play-calling responsibilities for the 2018 season, according to Tom Pelissero of The NFL Network.

Reich had spent two seasons at the helm as the offensive coordinator for the Eagles. The 56-year-old helped play a major part in the team's turnaround in the 2017 seasons that saw him help Pro Bowl quarterback Carson Wentz make a significant leap forward in his development in his second campaign that had him in the MVP conversation before tearing his ACL and LCL.

This offensive success continued under center with backup Nick Foles as he led the team to their first Super Bowl win behind an impressive string of performances in the playoffs. Meanwhile, Philadelphia also boasted one of the league's best running game that helped them finish the regular season third in scoring with 28.6 points per game, seventh in total offense at 365.8 yards per contest, third in rushing, and 13th in passing.

The Colts were on the opposite end of the spectrum this past season without the services of their star quarterback Andrew Luck due to a shoulder surgery. Indianapolis finished 31st overall in total offense with 284.6 yards per game while being the third-lowest scoring team at 16.4 points per contest along with ranking 30th in passing, and 22nd in rushing.

Reich has a huge task in front of him turning around the Colts offense that has been largely dependent on Luck's performance. That said, the Colts will have an opportunity to reshape the roster over the offseason with over $77 million in salary cap space while holding the second overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. All of this should allow for Reich to put his fingerprints all over roster personnel and playing style they will have under his helm.
