Phillip Rivers only signed a one-year deal with the Indianapolis Colts, but coach Frank Reich believes that he could play multiple seasons for the team. Talking to reporters on a conference call, Reich discussed Rivers' future with the team. Via Zak Keefer of The Athletic:

“I can just tell you I really believe it’s Philip [Rivers'] intent to play multiple years  [with the Colts] … I’m very optimistic it will be a multiple year thing.”

Rivers is 38 years old but if he has a good season, there is no reason he couldn't play for the Colts beyond 2020. One other thing that could help Rivers play a few more years is the offensive line that will be protecting him. With the Los Angeles Chargers, Rivers seemed to always be running for his life, but the hope is that won't be the case in Indianapolis.

Offensive coordinator Nick Siriani believes that the Colts' line was a selling point when bringing Rivers into Indy. According to Kevin Hickey at ColtsWire, Sirianni noted that once Rivers was signed, he kept saying how important a good offensive line was in looking for a new team during the offseason.

“Yeah, I think the big part of Philip (Rivers) being here is Anthony Castonzo, Quenton Nelson, Ryan Kelly, Braden Smith, Mark Glowinski. Those guys are our studs …

“[O]nce it was all signed up and Chris [Ballard] got all the work done, that’s something he kept mentioning after we signed him of how valuable those guys were to him.”

If Rivers' protection holds up and he finds success with his new team, it's possible he will be under center for two or three more years in Indianapolis.
