The Indianapolis Colts and superstar free agent quarterback Philip Rivers have agreed to a one-year contract, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

This is something that Ian Rapoport of NFL Network has been discussing, saying that this deal has been inching closer and closer all day.

Now it appears to be done. The Colts have officially found their quarterback for 2020.

While Rivers struggled last year, this is still very exciting. He's had a lot of incredible years, and a few pretty recently.

$25-million is a lot of money, but this is a team that many considered real Super Bowl contenders in 2019 before Andrew Luck retired. With a star quarterback at the helm again, maybe they can rekindle that magic.

What this also does is take another team out of the Tom Brady sweepstakes. Recently, many people weren't expecting the Colts to sign him. However, they were still in the running as they had been in the market for a quarterback. They are officially off the list now though.

As mentioned, Rivers has struggled recently. He managed 4,615 yards and 23 touchdowns on a 66 completion percentage last season. But he did so while throwing 20 interceptions.

However, he's thrown for over 4,000 yards in every season since 2012, and before that he had thrown for over 4,000 yards in every season since 2007.

The two years prior to 2019 saw Rivers combine for 60 touchdown passes compared to 22 interceptions. That's 30 touchdowns and 11 interceptions per season on average.

If Rivers can return to form, the Colts just got one of the better quarterbacks in the NFL.

That being said, it's just a one-year deal. So the window for a Super Bowl might not be that open, unless they're already considering replacements.

That's not something they should be too worried about now though. Indianapolis officially has Rivers. Now they need to capitalize.
