The good news ahead of the Indianapolis Colts Week 1 matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars is that no active player is ruled out yet, and injured defensive tackle DeForest Buckner should definitely play. However, the news on Jonathan Taylor's backup, running back Zack Moss, isn’t as good.

“Colts RB Zack Moss (forearm) questionable for Sunday vs. Jags. Limited for third straight day,” Colts insider Mike Chappell tweeted Friday. “DT DeForest Buckner was limited today (forearm), but has no designation, so he's apparently good to go.”

DeForest Buckner, the All-Pro DT, dealt with a foot injury earlier in training camp and now has a forearm issue. So, while it sounds like he’ll play in Week 1, his health is worth monitoring throughout the first game.

The bigger news ahead of the Colts Week 1 contest against the Jaguars is the status of RB Zack Moss, as All-Pro back Jonathan Taylor is on the PUP list and out for four games with an “injury” amid his contract dispute with the club. Moss suffered a broken arm at the end of July and is still working his way back.

Moss is, by far the most experienced RB behind Taylor, with 301 carries in 39 NFL games. If Moss can’t answer the bell in Week 1, the RB duties will go to Deon Jackson and Evan Hull.

Jackson is a third-year vet with 81 carries in 25 games, and Hull is a fifth-round rookie out of Northwestern. Neither one is ideal if first-year head coach Shane Steichen and rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson hope to get a win in their respective NFL debuts.
