Missing significant time due to some lingering injury troubles, Indianapolis Colts defensive back Kenny Moore left the middling AFC South franchise with a major void on defense. However, such a void didn't go unnoticed by the Colts front office as general manager Chris Ballard understands just how vital Moore's presence is to the team's defense.

Not only that, but Ballard had some seriously high praise for Moore upon taking the podium to officially conclude the Colts 2019-20 campaign.

“I don’t want to underestimate the loss of Kenny Moore. I think you all know my thoughts on Kenny Moore,” Ballard recently told reporters during his end of the year press conference, via USA TODAY Sports. “I think he’s the best nickel in the league, for what he does. I think time will prove me right on that. I think he’s a real special player. We had a major drop off when we lost Kenny.”

After reaching the playoffs in 2018-19, the Colts were unable to repeat such success this time around.

With two teams in the Tennessee Titans and division champion Houston Texans reaching the playoffs from the AFC South in 2019-20, the Colts finished in third place at a disappointing 7-9.

However, it is also worth noting that the Colts were without both the aforementioned Moore and longtime quarterback Andrew Luck, who suddenly and abruptly retired from the NFL right before the start of the 2019-20 regular season.

With Luck no longer in the picture and the Colts encountering slew of significant injuries, reaching the playoffs quickly became quite the difficult task for Ballard and company.
