It seems one can attribute part of the success of Indianapolis Colts head coach Frank Reich to his past ministry work.

According to The Athletic's Stephen Holder, Reich was the president of the Reformed Theological Seminary's Charlotte campus. He also served as the pastor at Cornerstone Presbyterian (now known as Ballantyne Presbyterian).

Cornerstone Presbyterian committee chairman Bob Stone told Holder his first impressions of Reich were that of a genuine and caring individual.

My first impressions were how much he cared about us as individuals on the (search) committee. He was interviewing for a job but he wanted to know as much about us and our families as he did the job. There was just this immediate love for us, personally.

You think, ‘Hey, I'm about to interview a guy who's been an NFL quarterback, he's been very successful, holds these records for the greatest comebacks ever.'

But he really cared. And that was before he even worked for the church. That was my first impression: what a genuine guy who was over-the-top caring about who I was, much less if he even got the job.

The Colts won just four games in Chuck Pagano's final season as head coach in 2017. With Reich and a healthy Andrew Luck in tow, Indianapolis won 10 games last season. Unfortunately, the Colts lost in the divisional round to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Nonetheless, the Colts have a solid head coach in Frank Reich. His knowledge of the game and caring attitude have made a profound difference. He has inspired his players to play to the best of their abilities. Hopefully, that will translate to a serious Super Bowl run in the 2019 NFL season.
