Magic Johnson, a part-owner of the Washington Commanders in addition to being a NBA legend, didn't love what he saw from his team on Sunday. Johnson took to social media to voice his frustration, as well as his diagnosis about what went wrong.

“Heartbreaking loss to the Seattle Seahawks today. Defensively, we couldn’t come up with a big play to stop Seattle during their last two drives,” Johnson commented via his X (formerly known as Twitter) account.

Johnson is…not wrong!

The Commanders' offense rallied twice in the fourth quarter to tie the game, only for the defense to surrender points in the 29-26 loss. QB Sam Howell hit Antonio Gibson for a 19-yard touchdown to tie the game 19 all. Seattle's Geno Smith promptly drove the Seahawks down the field and linked up with Tyler Lockett for a 5-yard score.

Howell and Co. answered with a 10-play, 71-yard drive that ended with a 35-yard TD pass to Dyami Brown. All tied up at 26.

But Washington couldn't hold, and following four Smith pass completions, Jason Myers converted a 43-yard field goal as time expired to give the Seahawks the 29-26 win.

Time to look at the bright side? The Commanders have to be encouraged by Howell's play down the stretch to keep his team in the game. The second-year QB ended his day 29-for-44 for 312 yards (his fourth career 300-yard game) with three TDs and zero picks.

The loss knocked Washington down to 4-6. More good news though. Next week, the Commanders get the reeling New York Giants at home. A prime chance to get back into the win column.
