Dak Prescott has been through a lot in the process of trying to get back on the field for the Dallas Cowboys, but his biggest burden to bear remains off it.

Dak's brother, Jace, had tragically passed away last year due to suicide. The Cowboys star woke up in his room on April 23, 2020, suddenly surrounded by friends and family who would eventually break the news to him of this shattering occurrence. Amid all the football drama he had been going through at the time, nothing suddenly mattered.

Dak needed to escape the bedroom, and those anguished, tear-streaked faces. He went outside, by the pool, and when he looked up, he no longer saw the “dark cloud” that had hovered over him. Instead, the sun was blinding. He couldn’t think. He bolted back inside to write the letter, 15 minutes after he found out.

The Cowboys star penned an emotional plea to his fallen brother that encapsulates his exact pain which flowed from the loss.

A Life Taken to Save Millions
You’ll never be forgotten for one second.
-Why didn’t you ask me for help?
-Did you tell someone how bad you hurting?
-Do you know how many people you affected?
-Do you know you’re adored, admired, loved?'

Dak Prescott is on the verge of taking his first snap for the Cowboys in almost a year. He also got the massive contract extension that seemed in jeopardy after his gruesome ankle injury. But what he went through really puts everything into perspective.

“Football has always been my getaway, my peace,” the Cowboys QB says. “There’s no way to put into words the fact that, yeah, the last time I was out here, I got my leg snapped, and there was a lot of uncertainty in the world.” Now, he says, “when you’re doing so much, just being intentional and purposeful, it’s amazing to get to do the things you love to do again.”

Here's hoping Dak Prescott has the year of his dreams with the Cowboys. After everything he's been through, he deserves it.
