The dust has settled on Taco Charlton's release from the Dallas Cowboys. A week after the team waived him — only to find himself playing them the next week as a Miami Dolphins — the defensive end thanked the Cowboys on Twitter.

Charlton says thank you to those that made a positive impact during his time in Dallas and that the city will always have a place in his heart.

The Cowboys released Charlton on Sept. 17. Dallas selected the former Michigan Wolverine with the No. 28 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. He didn't produce up to his draft status. In two seasons in Dallas, the defensive end tallied four sacks and 11 quarterback hits. The team failed to activate him in the two games before his release.

Once fellow defensive end Robert Quinn was eligible to play, Dallas quickly waived Charlton to add a roster spot. Oddly enough, he ended up on the Dolphins, who would play the Cowboys three days after he found his new home.

In Charlton's Miami debut/Dallas revenge game, he recorded a sack, two combined tackles, a tackle for loss and a quarterback hit. After the match, Charlton made it known that it's all on him to prove the Cowboys were either right or wrong by releasing a recent first-round pick.

“On the field, if you go three years down the line, we will get to see who is right and who is wrong,” Charlton said after the Dolphins’ loss on Sunday, via CBS Sports. “It is on me now. I get to play football, and then I get to get down to what I do.”

Nonetheless, Charlton is thankful for his time in Dallas.
