Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy has already expressed his confidence in quarterback Dan Prescott. He is now hoping to secure his two favorite targets in wide receivers Amari Cooper and Randall Cobb.

Both Cooper and Cobb are set to test the market in free agency this offseason. McCarthy is hoping that the Cowboys will be able to re-sign the pair, via Olivia Reiner of the Journal Sentinel:

“The goal is to have both those guys back.”

McCarthy's comments are certainly understandable considering they have each emerged as the go-to options for Prescott in the passing game. Despite the changes to the coaching staff, it is clear that he still wants to keep most of their roster intact moving forward.

There has been plenty of speculation regarding where Cooper should fall on the list of the Cowboys' priorities since they acquired him in exchange for a first-round pick during the 2018 campaign.

The negotiations between Prescott and the front office seemingly have yet to make any significant progress. Meanwhile, they have a four-time Pro Bowler that will undoubtedly garner plenty of interest from other teams once free agency begins.

Cooper has enjoyed quite the resurgence since arriving in Dallas as the No. 1 option in the passing game. Despite a roller-coaster 219 NFL season, he still hauled in 79 receptions for a career-high 1,189 receiving yards and eight touchdowns.

McCarthy's interest in Cobb hardly comes as any surprise since the two go way back from their days together with the Green Bay Packers. He knows full well what the veteran brings to the table and his resurgence in the 2019 campaign shows he still has plenty left in the tank.
